National Portfolio Day - Sunday January 10th

National Portfolio Day happens in Portland on Sunday January 10th. I forgot to add this onto your update I gave you the other day. It's a great event where you get to talk with admission directors from art colleges and universities around the country.

It's a required part of AP. We will prepare for it in class the week after we get back from the break. Most student really enjoy the process and find it interesting to hear what others have to say about your work. Besides, you get to go downtown, hang out and have lunch with your friends.

The Scholastic Art Awards show will be up at PNCA which is were the portfolio days will be held. You'll be killing two birds with one stone, see the show and get your work critiqued.

Mark it down on your calender.

Electric December

http://www.electricdecember.org/09/calendar

Electric December has become one of my favorite sites to visit during the holiday season. A project of the Watershed Media Centre in Bristol UK, Electric December 2009 is a digital countdown calendar that features a selection of short films from young people across Europe. There is something new to see each day for the month of December.

Check it out! Or not.

Freedom Project

More opportunities for you to possibly enter your artwork into. Just trying to keep you informed!

The McCormick Freedom Project celebrates youth voices through the annual Seen & Heard National Student Expression Contest by rewarding twelve talented high school students for their depictions of contemporary freedom issues. Using four media outlets – editorial cartoons, film, photojournalism and digital design – students exercise First Amendment freedoms to express their perspectives on contemporary social, political or economic issues.

Each year, winning and notable entries are featured in a subsequent exhibit at a Chicagoland venue, as well in an online exhibit featured on our Web site.
