I asked what could be better than chickens singing Queen? Perhaps techno chickens? You decide.

NO Sketchbooks, Blog Updates or Comments on Monday
Unless you feel so compelled there will be no sketchbooks, no blog updates or comments due on Monday. I don't feel like grading anything next week. Just want to focus on making art, Scholastic and having fun. It's a short week, let's enjoy it!

Chris Jordan Photographer
Great program on Ovation TV called Brilliant Green. They focused on a photographer, Chris Jordan. His work addresses issues of consumption. Check out his website:

Here is a detail of one of his images. Can you find this on his site and find out what it's making a statement about? I think you'll be entertained.

Interactive Art Sites
I visited the art blog of Brian Hunter. He teaches at Athey Creek Middle School in West Linn. He had some silly super fun interactive art sites listed on his blog. I wasted a good hour doodling and playing with these sites! Perhaps you would like to try them out as well.
Here they are!
Have fun!

Post It Note - Video
Check out this amazing video. Created by a Savannah College of Art and Design student.
BTW, we have two LHS graduates that I know of that are going to this school. I've been there, it's beautiful and a rockin good art school.

OCAC Student Juried Show
I had the pleasure of being a juror this last week for the Oregon College of Art and Craft, student juried show. It was fun to see the amazing variety of student work. The evening of the reception I saw two LHS art department alumni. Jenna Blanchard, 04, had two pieces in the show. The jury process was blind so I didn't know who's work was who's. I loved both of her pieces! The food made from fabric was impeciably created and so whitty. Ali Balter, 09, was there as well. She didn't enter the show but it was great to see her. She is enjoying her experience at OCAC. If you get an opportunity this month you should stop by and see the show. It would be worth it.
Here's some of the work from the show and a picture of Jenna.

CONCENTRATION TIME
The time to think about, commit to and have a concentration is coming. Starting on Tuesday of next week we are going to do a series of activities that will help you cultivate a concentration idea. Here is a great place for you to go to. It has YEARS of student examples and concentration statements for you to look at.
Do yourself a favor and visit this site.... if you don't you'll be sorry...

Doesn't hurt to look at the concentrations from previous years at LHS either. Just a thought.
